Weight - 1 of the 4 Forces series
Weight
In physics, it is considered the gravitational force exerted on a body on Earth.
In aviation, it is the most delicate concept: too much weight and you risk not being able to take off; too little and you risk not earning enough. Too little fuel can paradoxically lead to higher consumption. Too little also means having to count the remaining seconds in flight.
In life, it is often associated with our body, or with sensations that grip us.In reality, no one can fully explain weight as a concept, because everyone perceives a different weight, one that goes beyond scales and calculations.
How much does a choice weigh? How much does it weigh to remain in a place you want to leave? How much does a feeling of guilt or difficulty weigh? How much does it weigh to remain defeated or stuck?
The answer is personal, and no one will ever truly know someone else’s answer.
Perhaps we should simply see weight by another name:
Balance.
Breaking balance is the essence of change; it requires strength, consistency, and boldness.
Just as an aircraft applies force, consuming energy to lift its weight from the ground and return to doing what it was meant to do, we must seek our own strength, our opposing weight, the vector that shifts our balance and makes us fly or rather, allows us to be where we truly belong.
